Training professional tutors for care leavers’ autonomy

Below are the lessons implemented during the Summer School's blended mobility - Care for the development of specific skills in the autonomy of Care Leavers during the pathway to adult life

LESSON 1 - UNIVERSITY OF PALERMO - SOCIAL PEDAGOGY

In the first lecture conducted by the University of Palermo, Dr. Zarcone introduced the topic of pedagogy and social pedagogy, the significance of studying social pedagogy today was analyzed. A semantic analysis was also made regarding the interaction between education and society, and finally, the issues of deinstitutionalization and institutionalization, the risk and protection factors involved in these paths for children and youth were discussed.

LESSON 2 - UNIVERSITY OF PALERMO - SOCIAL PEDAGOGY

In this lecture, the theme of resilience and the myth of the "self-made man" is addressed, a consideration of resilience as an interactive process between the individual and the environment is then made. Finally, Ungar's ecological-social perspective from the condition of risk to the process of resilience is analyzed.

LESSON 3 - UNIVERSITY OF PALERMO - SOCIAL PEDAGOGY

In this third lecture at the University of Palermo, an analysis on community empowerment is proposed through a theoretical excursus whose main protagonists were Paulo Freire, proponent of pedagogical principles, and Danilo Dolci, who proposes a reciprocal maieutic metology.

LESSON 4- UNIVERSITY OF PALERMO - THEORIES AND PRACTICES OF EDUCATIONAL WORK WITH VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WITH MODELS AND METHODS OF EDUCATIONAL DESIGN IN RESIDENTIAL CARE


Professor Schirinzi proposes an analysis of reading the pedagogical model of interventions with vulnerable children and families from a complexity perspective so as to use research knowledge to act intentionally and effectively. The aim is to use reflexive, participatory and aesthetic methodologies in educational work with minors and families; to read the community as a system in a network of systems; to design, observe and evaluate the space of guests' growth in everyday life and personalized educational intervention from a critical-pedagogical perspective.

LESSON 5- UNIVERSITY OF PALERMO - YOUNG BETWEEN IDENTITY AND CULTURE: THE ROULE OF THE KEY WORKER

Professor Schirinzi proposes an anilysis between identity and culture with the aim of: reading the pedagogical model of interventions with vulnerable children and families from a complexity perspective; using research knowledge to act intentionally and effectively; developing a posture of curiosity and critical, creative and collaborative skills; using reflective, participatory and aesthetic methodologies in educational work with children and families; reading the community as a system in a network of systems; designing, observing and evaluating the space for guests' growth in daily life and personalized educational intervention from a critical-pedagogical perspective; using guidelines and standards of good practice; orienting oneself in working models and methodologies observed in the field; working in networks and groups, contextualizing, caring for self, others and the environment; supporting and building external networks;becoming resilience mentors.

A study on the concept of emotional intelligence, its evolution over time and the main definitions was introduced. An overview of the tools and methods for training emotional intelligence was carried out.

LESSON 2 - LOYOLA UNIVERSITY - LEGAL PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN THE WELLFARE STATE: LEGAL CAPACITY,LIABILITY OF THE MINOR AND THE TUTOR, BASIC RULES ON CONTRACT, FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT OF THE MINOR, TUTALAGE



In this lesson, Dr. María Lubomira Kubica, offers an analysis of the basic rights and duties of the child and an analysis of the basic legal framework applicable to social workers (responsibility for children) and the child himself, with the aim of fostering greater autonomy and empowerment of the young person.

LESSON 3 - LOYOLA UNIVERSITY - TRAINING EMOTIONAL I NTELLIGENCE

A second lesson in which a study on the concept of emotional intelligence, its evolution over time and the main definitions was introduced. An overview of the tools and methods for training emotional intelligence was carried out.

LESSON 4 - LOYOLA UNIVERSITY - EMPOWERMENT OF CARE IN CHILD AND YOUTH PROTECTION COMMUNITIES THROUGH INTERPROFESSIONAL FORMATION



This lecture explores the topic of residential care in the European and international context and the differences between welfare systems. Dr. Eider Muniategui Azcona explains what the juvenile community is: context, intervention, methods, controls, laws, protection systems in Europe; reflexivity and calibration; creating the educational and therapeutic relationship; involving the family of origin; supporting participation in daily life; and evaluating outcomes and processes.

LESSON 3 - UNIVERSITY OF BUCAREST- THE MAIN LIFE STAGES OF PSYCHOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT

A critical analysis of the literature on child and adolescent psychology is made in the lecture conducted by the University of Bucharest. From this analysis, a reading of the individual's needs in relation to the context is proposed, using positive tools for personalized development

aimed at maintaining and nurturing relationships in an age-appropriate manner.

Developmental psychopathology and the importance of reading adolescents' risk and dysfunctional behaviors by linking them to life cycle stages is outlined. Finally, an overview of the main problems of adolescents is also provided in light of the pandemic period experienced.
